The Miracle of the Fingernails
Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, accidents happen. And unfortunately, those accidents often have consequences. This man had an accident with his lawn mowers that left him with no hope of ever having his fingernails grow back properly. But it looks like fate was on his side! After ten years of no fingernails, they miraculously started to grow back! It's amazing when things somehow end up working out much better than expected.
This man was ready to spend the rest of his life without any fingernails on two of his fingers. Can you imagine his excitement when they started to slowly grow back?
Never Underestimate the Sun
People sometimes forget just how strong the sun's rays actually are. Besides heating up the entire world, causing our skin to turn darker shades, and providing the essential vitamin D to all those who absorb its rays, the sun has a whole new power no one would have ever considered. Imagine you're sitting in front of your desk and the sun is shining in through the window. After a few hours, you notice that the sun has melted an entire portion of your keyboard!
That must have been some hot summer sun considering it could literally sear a line through this keyboard!
Invasion of the Cicadas
No one like cicada season. Your normal, peaceful, happy summer is all of the sudden disturbed by the loud buzzing sound of the cicada. Although it can be considered relaxing background noise at times, they do happen to leave behind something else very unpleasant. The exoskeletons of cicadas can be seen lying everywhere once the season begins, but it looks like this car tire was hit the worst! The cicadas could not have been happier to shed their skins here.
Mankind is pretty lucky that these troublesome creatures only appear every 17 years. If people had to deal with cicadas and their gross exoskeletons lying around every year, it would certainly not be a pleasant experience.
The Remains of a Pair of Jeans
Have you ever thought about the decomposability of denim? Well, you can put your mind at rest now that you have gazed upon this photo of a pair of denim jeans decomposing in nature. Although it is certainly quite a creepy sight, with its stringy, mangled look, it is nice to know that the materials of these pants are mostly biodegradable and aren't like plastics that will stick around forever!
It would be interesting to know the story of these jeans. What string of events led to someone leaving a pair of jeans in the woods and nothing else?
How to Make a DIY Water Pouch
In case you were worried that at some point in your life you may need to create a water pouch out of little to nothing, this is a nice backup plan to have. If you have a laminated piece of paper, and you leave a little slot open at the top, water will be able to make its way in between the lamination pages to create a beautiful, DIY water pouch.
This was certainly not the creators of this sign's intent when they hung it outside, so hopefully the words on the poster were not that important and nothing was harmed by its demise from the rain.
The Most Enormous Clam Shell
Although it is not confirmed if this is the largest clam shell known to man, it is certainly among the top. Just look at the size of this monster compared to a banana. This clam is over 100 years old and was found in the Great Barrier Reef. Just imagine if this clam had a pearl! It would not only be enormous, but extremely valuable, if not priceless!
The ocean is such an unfathomable place! This clam shell is just one of the incredible things to have been discovered under the sea. Imagine how much there is that humans have not even found yet.
The Holy Bread From Whole Foods
Everyone loves Whole Foods. Organic and natural produce in a beautiful setting and easy to find...what is there not to love? Besides of course the higher prices, it looks like some of their products are a little less than ideal. Imagine trying to make a sandwich with this piece of bread! Don't even try to spread some mayonnaise, it'll just fall right through the excessively large holes.
It's impossible not to run with the pun here and choose to call it Hole Foods instead of Whole Foods. Dads around the world will be laughing for days about this joke!
A Bag of Dice in a Bar of Soap
What does a bar of soap have in common with a small bag of dice? If you can't think of anything, that's because under normal circumstances these two things could not be less related. But, life is full of surprises, and this person was very surprised to discover, upon using this bar of soap, that there was a small plastic bag full of dice hidden inside. What could possibly be the purpose of this?
Unless someone is planning on gambling while in the bathtub, it doesn't make much sense to hide a bag of dice inside a bar of soap. And who needs that many dice anyway? Isn't usually one or two enough?
The Truck Is Going to Walk Away
Upon first glance, this photo appears to be a horrifying capture that may require a call to the emergency services. After all, these boots are squished in between the truck door, and who wouldn't think that there are a pair of legs inside of them? Fortunately, it really was just the boots that got stuck inside the car door and the biggest damage is making the truck look like it's going to stand up and walk away.
How long do you think it took this driver to realize that these boots were dangling outside his door like the ghost of truck drivers past? Hopefully, they weren't damaged in the process!
The Cast That Caused a Hairy Arm
Breaking an arm is never fun. Besides the pain involved with the injury, no one wants to be stuck wearing a bulky and heavy cast for weeks on end. You can't go swimming and your skin gets irritated. But what no one expects is that on top of all these inconveniences, you run the risk of having a hair overgrowth on the casted arm! This man grew dark, thick hair only on the arm that had a cast.
It must be pretty difficult for this man to explain to curious people why only one of his arms has hair on it. It's unlikely that anyone would believe that it was only because of the cast.
Mittens for Your Feet
Parenthood is no easy task. The days are hectic and the nights are sleepless. It looks like this mother had an insanely busy morning when she was getting her child dressed for the day. Only after dropping the baby off at her mother-in-law's house, did she receive a picture revealing the silly mistake that she had made. Instead of socks, she grabbed mittens and put them on her baby's feet!
Perhaps this actually isn't so bad at all. As long as the baby's feet stay warm, that all that really matters in the end....even if there is an awkward thumb hole on a sock.
That's One Smiley Tree Stump
Imagine you're walking along in the forest and see a nice tree stump, perfect for resting and finding a comfortable seat. As you look down you see that this is no ordinary tree stump, but rather the happiest stump you will probably ever see. Complete with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, this tree stump boasts the full jovial package. You can't help but smile when you see it.
Once you find a face in one inanimate object, it's difficult to stop yourself. Everywhere you go you'll be seeing faces...in the traffic lights, in the shadows, in fruits and vegetables, and in the clouds. They're everywhere!
These Bees Wasted No Time
Life can be full of surprises, and some of those surprises are a little less exciting than others. This woman didn't use or move her car for a few weeks, but when she returned to the car after the long repose, there was an unexpected new structure in her midst. These bees wasted no time in building this perfect beehive in just a few weeks' time, right in this woman's car trunk.
At least she found the beehive before getting into her car and driving off. Imagine the horror of suddenly being stuck in the car with a whole hive of bees.
The Intricate Spider Web on the Lamp Post
Everyone avoids replacing light bulbs. It's one of those simple, quick tasks that just somehow constantly get pushed off. It takes only a few moments and yet people never get around to it. While these people were procrastinating fixing their lamp, one industrious spider took the chance to get busy. He wrapped his intricate web all around the broken lamp and post creating this impressive network of webbing all around it.
One man's trash is another man's treasure. What these people thought was a useless lamp and not worth their time fixing was a prime home building location for this spider.
Static Electric Crystal of Herbal Powder
It's a bird, it's a plane...it's a seashell? At first glance, it's a bit difficult to decipher what exactly is going on in this photo. But even upon the 200th guess, few people would suspect that this is actually an interesting picture of the effect static electricity had on this herbal powder. The combination of a metal spoon, static electricity, and herbal powder created this hair like monster of an item.
More than anything this looks like a mutant clam shell from the ocean. The grooves on the spoon and the hair-like particles of herbal powder make it look the most similar.
Age Matters When It Comes to Hens
Who would think that you would be able to tell the difference between the eggs laid by a young hen and the eggs laid by a mature hen? Well, this picture proves that you can. The eggs on the left were laid by an older hen and they appear to be much larger with a lighter, thinner eggshell. The eggs on the right, laid by an older hen, are much glossier and smaller.
It would be interesting to compare how the eggs taste and if the yolks are lighter or darker as with farm-fresh, free-range eggs compared to factory-farmed eggs.
You Can't Fit a Square Peg in a Round Hole
Landlords are infamous for being heartless and selfish overseers of property. Besides constantly raising the rent, refusing to help their tenants, and breaching the contracts, this landlord took it a step further. When the toilet seat broke in the apartment, the tenant requested a replacement, specifying the important fact that the toilet is square and therefore needs a square toilet lid. Instead of simply listening and providing what they requested, she sent this round lid that hardly covers the toilet seat.
Although it certainly looks silly and hardly does the trick of covering the toilet seat, perhaps it can be attached somehow to at least have it somewhat working before (hopefully) it can be replaced with a proper lid.
The Lint Filter From Hell
Living with roommates can always be a bit of a challenge. Not everyone has the same cleanliness standards, people are loud, sometimes there is drama. These roommates seem to simply not understand how to do laundry, obviously, no one ever taught them the importance of cleaning out the lint filter. When one of the roommates came to do laundry for the first time in a few weeks, they were shocked to find this disturbingly large amount of lint still in the filter.
Besides being sort of gross, this is actually quite dangerous and excess lint in the lint filter can cause a fire in the laundry machine. Let's hope these people learned their lesson to prevent a disaster!
The Wall of Human Profiles
While taking a walk on a nice, sunny summer day, someone once came across this very unique fence. A great appreciator of architecture, they stopped to gaze upon this one-of-a-kind structure. Instead of simple, straight pieces of wood or metal placed together to create a wall, this piece looks like a bunch of ancient human facial profiles all looking out into the distance.
The most interesting part of this wall is that all of the "faces" are a little bit different. Do you think they were made to look like profiles or was it just a coincidence?
The Jacket With a Plastic Opening to See Your Watch
What looks, at first glance, to be the remains of an alien's wardrobe, is actually an interestingly innovative jacket with built-in wristwatch gazing capabilities. Who thought this was so necessary that they would mass produce it to sell to the world? And who buys it? After all, it's not so difficult to simply pull up your sleeve the littlest bit in order to be able to see the time on your watch.
At the end of the day, this is probably more inconvenient than snazzy. Watches tend to shift and it's highly unlikely that they would stay inside that small circle at all times.
The Locket With the Hidden Pictures
Everyone loves finding old treasures from their grandparents and their family members. It's hard to resist the urge to learn about their history and their stories. This girl found her step grandmother's locket hidden in the attic, but unfortunately, it was sealed shut. After spending hours trying to pry it open, she finally succeeded and was very surprised by what she discovered. Instead of the expected photo of a husband or lover, it was two pictures of her beloved pets.
Who ever said that the obsession with dogs started out only as a millennial thing? Clearly, this woman proves that this is something that has been going on for far longer.
The Cookie Monster Rock
Some people may claim that geology is boring, uninteresting, and all the same. After all, they say, rocks are rocks. But clearly, they have never heard of or seen this incredible rock that was discovered by a geologist. When this geologist opened up this rock, he was shocked to find that it was the spitting image of none other than...The Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.
Complete with a goofy smile and big eyes, this rock looks almost like the prototype of the character. The real question is did he find this rock in a trash can?
Hayden Kays Has Become Anti Social
Hayden Kays, beloved by all, and missed by many. Although, as the bench memorial claims, he is still alive and well, he is just becoming increasingly distant from everyone. As is written on the plaque on this bench in Margate UK "Dedicated to - HAYDEN KAYS. Forever missed by his friends and family. - He's not dead yet. He's just become increasingly anti-social." Maybe Hayden will come across this bench on his solitary wanderings through the park.
Hayden seems to have a group of friends with a great sense of humor. Instead of just telling their friend that they miss him, they went so far as to create a park bench memorial for him.
Two for One With the Bonsai Tree
Not everyone is lucky enough to be gifted such a lovely gift as a Bonsai tree, but it looks like this person was double blessed. They saw a little egg near the trunk of the tree and instead of throwing it away, they decided to see if it would hatch. To their surprise, this cute little green lizard hatched out of the egg only a few days after they got the tree.
This is the definition of the perfect two-for-one deal....assuming that this person actually wants to keep this little fella for a bit until they are ready to release him into the wild.
You Never Know What You Might Find Is a Seashell
Sally sells seashells by the seashore, as the popular tongue twister goes. But did sally ever pick up a seashell like this one...with a hidden hitchhiker inside? When this man picked up a simple shell at Honeymoon Beach in Florida, he was very surprised to see this tiny octopus that was taking refuge inside. You never know what you might find inside a seashell!
Fortunately, this man put the little octopus safely back in the water so he could swim back into freedom in the ocean. Hopefully, he stays far away from the shore in case the next finder is not so kind.
One Perfect Little Snowflake
It is continuously remarkable to think that every single snowflake that has ever fallen to the ground is completely different than all the others. Each one is unique and one of a kind. However, it's often hard to actually see the different, distinct shapes of the snowflakes themselves. This person, while out on a snowy day walk, was blessed with the touch of a tiny, perfect snowflake that appeared on the inside of their glasses.
For once all the moments of fogged-up glasses have become worth it just to see this tiny and beautiful snowflake that landed right in the corner of the fog.
Diamond (or Amethyst) in the Rough
Everyone has heard the phrase 'a diamond in the rough.' But perhaps they should say something a little bit different, the amethyst in the gravel. This woman found multiple amethysts while looking through some gravel in her yard. Who could miss these shining purple rocks, especially against the gray and dark gravel background? Sadly, amethysts aren't the most valuable precious stones, so she won't be making much money off of these, but it's still exciting to find!
Even if they aren't worth a lot of money, the pure excitement in discovering these beauties in such an unexpected place is well worth it.
When the Sponge Became a Life Raft
Life in New Mexico can be interesting, to say the least. Imagine you walk downstairs into your kitchen to find the sink full of soapy dishwater. You left the sponge floating there for a few minutes and when you returned, an interesting sight awaits you. A tiny little lizard managed to make his way to the sponge and chose to use it as a raft to navigate the stormy seas of the sink.
Oh if only there was a camera to capture the moment this lizard made his way to the sponge. Did he jump or was the sponge close enough to the edge that he could just slide right on?
The Pixelated Leaf
Sorry...this image has not properly loaded yet. If the universe could talk, that is almost definitely what she would say. This leaf looks like a very pixelated image, taken with an old camera, or one being shown on a computer screen that takes hours to properly load. The most interesting part is that this person only found one of these strange leaves and no one knows if there are any more.
The different shades of green are truly beautiful on this leaf, making the pixelated version a work of art. It almost looks like an amateur attempt at "paint by number".
The Fanciest of Fungi
Fungi are likely one of the most remarkable things on this earth. Whether they have psychedelic properties, amazing healing capabilities, or just look awesome, they are a formidable bunch. This Veiled Lady Mushroom that was found in a forest near Seoul, North Korea is among the most beautiful of all. Just look at the intricate working of this mushroom's "gown". It looks like a fancy costume beautiful enough to wear to a ball.
Most Veiled Lady mushrooms are bedecked in a white dress and the yellowish-orange dress is a bit rarer. No matter what the color, they are all stunning.
Mosaic on Top of Mosaic
Greece is a remarkable place, world-renown for its amazing and well preserved historical sites. Whether you are traveling to Athens, Thessaloniki, or the smaller islands, you cannot avoid ancient archaeological sites. Although ancient mosaic floors come a dime a dozen there, it is very rare to come across a mosaic floor on top of a mosaic floor, from two entirely different eras. And both of them are Roman mosaics!
It looks like even in ancient times they understood the need to renovate every so often to maintain freshness. And why not with mosaic floors instead of the hardwood or carpeting of nowadays?
A Door for the Squirrels
It is debatable what this tiny little red door, built into the strong trunk of this large tree, was originally intended for. The most convincing guess is that it was created for (and not by) the squirrels. They are always seen climbing up and down the trees, so why not give them a little resting place, safe and secure from all danger. After all, it can get pretty cold in Lowell, Massachusetts in the winter.
It is entirely possible that this door was not intended for squirrels at all, but then that leaves the world wondering why it was put there in the first place.
Four Tiny Kittens Hidden in the Bushes
If your heart doesn't melt at the sight of four tiny, fuzzy kittens snuggling together to keep warm in the bushes, there is possibly something wrong with your heartstrings. These furry, little babies are trying to keep warm without the help of their mother. They were thrust into a cold and dark world, where their only hope was that some kind people would find them and bring them to safety.
Hopefully, these kittens all found new homes, not too far away from their siblings. Since they all love to cuddle so much, it would be a shame to have to separate them.
The Sword in the Rock
While out deer hunting in the middle of nowhere, a man once came across this sword. It was speared in the crack of the rock, unable to be removed. Legend has it that the rock was split by the strike of the sword, but modern curiosities leave us with unanswered questions. Certainly not ancient, this rusted sword seems a bit out of place. What happens to the person who touches the sword?
It truly appears to be something out of a movie and that whoever touches this sword will be cursed for life. Would you have the courage to touch it?
Smokey the Pet Raccoon
Every family has certain stories that they pass down from generation to generation. Uncle so and so was a cowboy and aunt so and so knew George Washington. This family's story was that the grandmother had a pet raccoon named Smokey. No one ever knew if it was real or fake until one day, someone came across this ragged photo that proved Smokey's very existence as a beloved pet.
You can even see that the dog and the raccoon are playing together well. They look like they're very good friends. Grandma's reputation was redeemed with this photo to prove her strange pet choice.
Greenhouse in a Bottle
The world is very familiar with the concept of a ship in a bottle or a message in a bottle, sent by desperate lovers or stranded seagoers. But have you ever heard of a greenhouse in a bottle? This man happened to stumble upon just that on his walk in the woods. These plants could not be stopped and they continued to grow proliferously in the bottle and in the woods surrounding it!
Do you think the plants and moss would continue to grow if they were taken out of the words? It seems like the moisture and surroundings offered a unique opportunity for this green growth.
The Cutest Caterpillar in the World
When thinking of the cutest animals in the world, people usually think of the most common ones- dogs and cats and bunnies. Few people would ever consider adding a caterpillar to that list and yet this Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillar is giving all of those furry creatures a run for their money. With big, lovable eyes and a sherbert orange color, it's hard not to fall in love with this spotted fellow.
It seems that as cute as this caterpillar is, it is even more beautiful once it turns into a butterfly (not surprisingly). Oh and did you know that sometimes the caterpillars are orange and sometimes they are green?
Surprise Guest in the Morning
There are few people in the world who would not be utterly horrified to wake up to the sight of a huge brown bat INSIDE their house. Although it's already scary enough to find one swooping nearby outside, once they have crossed the barrier to your personal space, it's impossible to feel safe. Hopefully the owners of this house were unharmed and the bat was able to be released safely back into the wild.
There are so many different types of bats and although most are harmless, some of them do bite. They can carry many different diseases and it's best to stay far away from them.
A Magical Purple Mushroom
If you already haven't been convinced that mushrooms are among the most amazing things on planet earth, gaze upon this purple mushroom growing in the wild. It is enough to turn even the most skeptical of people into ardent believers of fairy and elves and magical wonderland. After all, if this dreamy purple mushroom exists, what else could there be in the world waiting to be discovered?
Surprisingly there are actually multiple different types of purple mushrooms, the most popular being Viscid violet cort and the Amethyst Deceive. Both of which are fittingly named with both terrifying and whimsical names.
Someone Angered Their Parents Right Before Christmas
After digging through their grandparent's attic, these kids found a very surprising treasure. Hidden among the paperwork and unnecessary junk, they found a brand new, unopened PS1. Not only is it worth a lot of money now, especially since it is in such wonderful condition, but it certainly comes with a backstory as well. Was someone very naughty right before present time on Christmas?
It was probably sitting up in the attic for years and every time the grandparents got annoyed with their children they remembered happily their little revenge of the hidden PS1.
